Maya:
This exhibition presents the story of the real Maya, which spans over three millennia. Topics include the evolution of kingship, the development of writing, math, astronomy and timekeeping. Information on the latest discoveries, such as a mural showing calendrical computations of a Maya priest, and the uncovering of a second inscription marking the December 21, 2012 date are included. Come visit and find an answer to the question: “What will happen on December 21, 2012?”
Organized by the Houston Museum of Natural Science and the Museo Nacional de Arqueología y Etnología, Guatemala City, Guatemala. Generously sponsored by HMW Entertainment and The Kislak Family Foundation.

Medici:
For almost three hundred years, generation after generation of the Medici family dominated city affairs and steered the course of art history in the city of Florence. It was the Medici family who funded the workshops of celebrated artists and artisans, and who commissioned and collected the masterpieces of art and antiquity. The immense power and wealth of this great dynasty was invested in its legendary collections, and the collection renowned as the Gems of the Medici is perhaps the finest in the world.
Organized by Contemporanea Progetti, Florence, Italy in collaboration with Museo degli Argenti, Palazzo Pitti and the Museo Archeologico Nazionale Firenze.

Scistarter

NSTA and SciStarter are partnering to connect teachers and their students to collaborative opportunities with scientists on cutting-edge research projects and informal science activities. Selected SciStarter citizen science projects now appear on the NSTA website each day connecting teachers with opportunities--ranging from analyzing distant galaxies to monitoring frog, firefly, or whale populations to detecting home and body microbiomes--so they and their students may communicate with researchers and learn about, participate in, and contribute to science in fun and engaging ways.
