Flipped!

9/4/2012
Welcome to the first installment of Flipped! This page will be a platform where the students learn first before actually being taught by the teacher.

This and last week students have been learning about the process skills of science: Observation, tools and the scientific method. Using those process skills, view the video. Here are a few questions that can guide discussions in your classroom:

  • How is one piece of ice being affected versus the other?
  • What is your thinking regarding how this is happening?
  • What does this remind you of in the natural world?

Post your responses.

Solids, Liquids and Gases...Oh My!

Take a look at the video and discuss/write about the following questions.

  • What properties make a liquid a liquid?
  • What properties make a solid a solid?
  • What properties make a gas a gas?

Making Connections

Here we have two objects of the same size and shape. They placed in a container of water. Focus your discussion on your observations and these questions.

  • Using your knowledge of the properties of matter, what and how is happening to the objects?
    • use your journal to jot down any additional thoughts
